International Contis Festival: Europa Cinemas Days

11 European films previewed

06/06/2019

For its 24th edition, the Contis Festival is partnering with Europa Cinemas for three days dedicated to European cinema.

International Contis Festival: Europa Cinemas Days

On the 19th, 20th and 21st of June, Europa Cinemas and the Contis Cinema, a mythical venue nestled between dunes and the ocean, will organize for the first time in France the "Europa Cinemas Days", a meeting for professionals (members or not of the Network) and partially open to the public.

11 European feature films will be offered in national previews, all of which have been screened by major festivals, in particular Cannes 2019. A round table bringing together 5 professionals, members and partners of the etwork, completes this program.

Thank you to register by email to contact@cinema-contis.fr, as soon as possible to allow us to welcome you in the best possible way.

ROUND TABLE: Friday 21 June, 11am

"Development of young audiences and European films: happy connections"

Moderated by Frédéric Henry (Cinemas du Palais in Créteil).

With Ramiro Ledo Cordeiro (Numax Cinema in Santiago de Compostela - Spain), Benoît Thimister (Les Grignoux in Liège - Belgium), Marion Thévenot (French Institute), Pierre Dupont (Les Montreurs d'Images in Agen) and Jean-Baptiste Selliez (Europa Cinemas).

In a very dynamic digital environment, cinema theater practices in audience development are evolving rapidly. The cinema theater is no longer just a place to broadcast films but a place of cultural animation. Enhancing the specificity of the cinema experience while hosting a growing range of activities places the cinemas at the heart of the Cité and contemporary citizens issues.

Hyper-connected, the "Z" generation forces us to create new ways to make young audiences aware of demanding and unique works that often seem far from their concerns to them. School time and out of school screenings, festivals, special screenings, amateur practices: what are the innovative strategies for involving young people? And how can European cinema serve these exchanges?

Based on the experiences of the speakers, we will first try to define what European cinema is, then to highlight the tools to build, alongside the younger generations, the European cinephilia of tomorrow.
