TIFF Innovation Day Lab - Romania
Cluj-Napoca, 29&30 July 2021
Set up in cooperation with the Transilvania International Film Festival (23rd July–1st August 2021) this Audience development & Innovation Day Lab will focus on sharing approaches to bring back audiences after the reopening of cinemas and re-establishing cinema-going habits.
How can we insure that cinemas become vital spaces for audiences to invest their time in and enjoy the collective cinema experience again? How to make an experience diverse and attractive? How can we have an ongoing dialogue with audiences and make the shared cinema experience unique in a multiplatform environment? How can we devise sustainable programming strategies (in-venue and online)? In this practical Lab, within a festival that is committed to showing avant-garde cinema, you will have the opportunity to discuss important topics such as adding value to the collective cinema experience, distinguishing cinema experience from online screening platforms, rethinking the communication/audience development strategies with specific target groups in mind. You will be able to share your difficulties and concerns with colleagues and use hands-on kind of approach to solve specific problems, think of new ways of developing and renewing audiences by using innovative marketing tools (including social media), to engage with young people. Bring your ideas and issues to the Lab, step back from the day to day and spend time with practitioners from the region to reflect on your practice, exchange expertise and find practical solutions.
The workshop is open to exhibitors from Romania and the surrounding countries.
This seminar will be directed by Metka Dariš (Director, Kinodvor, Slovenia) together with Tom de Bont (Programmer, Heerenstraat Theater, Netherlands).
