Five friends, bound by a common sense of failure and loss, try to drown their sorrows in drugs, but the attempt only drives them to blast contradictions. A lucid “kammerspiel” leads the characters to a confrontation with their disillusion, that reinterprets the western, by replacing the classic saloon with a rural house. The backdrop is an archaic and suspended Sardinia that could have been any place on earth, where a sense of isolation and existential emptiness prevails. A film made with rigorous craftsmanship, of impressive compactness and stylistic rigor, with truly gigantic performers.
