EC Label Jury - Giornate degli Autori 2025

Four Network exhibitors from The Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden will take part in the Europa Cinemas Label Jury on the occasion of the upcoming Giornate degli Autori (27 Aug – 6 Sept 2025). The Jury members will award one European film out of the “Official selection” and the section “Special Events”.

The four EC Label Jury members are: 

Manuel Asín (Head of Film Department, Cine Estudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, Spain) 

Manuel is Head of the Film Department at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and programmer of its Cine Estudio. From 2010 to 2015, he directed Intermedio, a film distribution company and publisher of books and DVDs. As an independent curator, he has organized retrospectives for institutions such as Filmoteca Española, Museo Reina Sofía, Xcèntric-CCCB, Instituto Moreira Salles, FID Marseille, and others. He contributes to publications including Trafic, Cahiers du cinéma, and Caimán Cuadernos de Cine, where he is also a member of the editorial board. He is the author of two books on Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, and editor of Guy Debord’s Contra el cine. Obras cinematográficas completas (1952–1978). 

Simon Blaas (Director and Programmer, Cinema Middelburg, The Netherlands) 

Simon is director and programmer at Cinema Middelburg, where he leads a team of 50 volunteers to present daily arthouse screenings. The cinema is especially proud of its 15-seat Club—one of the smallest in the Netherlands. Based in Middelburg, Simon studied Literature in Utrecht, with a strong interest in storytelling and its connection to cinema. One of his earliest cinema memories is watching Louis Malle’s “Au revoir les enfants”. He looks forward to learning from fellow professionals and discovering new films at the Venice Film Festival. 

Ivan Frenguelli (Head of Programming and Vice President, PostModernissimo, Perugia, Italy) 

Ivan holds an MA in Visual and Performing Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and has over a decade of experience in film management and programming. From 2011 to 2015, he worked as a freelance video producer, director, and editor. In 2014, he co-founded Anonima Impresa Sociale soc. coop., where he serves as Vice-President and oversees the programming of Cinema PostModernissimo. He co-directed the PerSo – Perugia Social Film Festival from 2017 to 2020 and continues to curate its programming. In 2025, he also joined the Umbria Film Festival in Montone as a programmer. 

Signe-Annie Lindstedt (Producer and Film Pedagogue, Zita Folkets Bio Stockholm, Sweden) 

Signe is a film educator and content producer based in Stockholm, working at Zita Folkets Bio, one of Sweden’s leading arthouse cinemas. She has an academic background in film and cultural studies and also produces for Cinema Queer, Sweden’s foremost LGBTQ+ film festival. Her work focuses on inclusive film culture and promoting cinema as a tool for education and critical dialogue.
