FOUR MINUS THREE, Europa Cinemas Label

FOUR MINUS THREE will now benefit from promotional support from Europa Cinemas and better exhibition thanks to a financial incentive for network cinemas to include it in their programme schedule.

The Label Jury consisted of Minna Nurmi (Cinema Orion, Helsinki, Finland), Ute Mader (Kommunales Kino Leverkusen, Leverkusen, Germany), Maja Holek (Kino Velebit, Koprivnica, Croatia) and Kristiina Saar (Tartu Elektriteater, Tartu, Estonia).

The Jury issued the following statement – “The depiction of intense grief is never an easy subject for a film, but Adrian Goiginger’s FOUR MINUS THREE succeeds in giving us a very moving and inspiring experience. You can only admire the remarkable central performance by Valerie Pachner – somehow her strength of character rarely falters amid her huge pain, helped by her determination to continue working as a professional clown. Based on a true story, the excellent script manages to evoke a sense of hope while not hiding away from the despair of loss. There is plenty of scope for discussions and outreach for exhibitors, and we feel strongly that the Label can really help give this gentle but powerful film a long life in European cinemas.”

FOUR MINUS THREE is a co-production between 2010 Entertainment (Austria) and Giganten Film Productions (Germany). International sales are handled by Beta Cinema.

Synopsis: Barbara and her partner Heli lead a happy and loving life with their two children, Fini and Thimo. As professional clowns, they don't take life too seriously and know that even things that go wrong can be funny. When Barbara loses her family in an accident seemingly out of nowhere, her world collapses. The loss makes her question her clowning career and her own purpose in life. But Barbara faces her fate. Courageously and unconventionally, she finds a way to cope with her grief. Step by step, she realizes that life goes on despite everything, if you dare to approach it anew.
