18/05/2026

Europa Cinemas is pleased to announce that, among the 20 applications received for the sixth edition of Collaborate to Innovate, nine new projects have been selected for support.

Collaborate to Innovate 2026

The applications were submitted by 99 cinemas from 16 different countries and represented a total requested budget of 2 410 332 € and stood out for their particularly high quality.

Launched in 2021 by Europa Cinemas with the support of Creative Europe/MEDIA, this flagship scheme aims to recognise and reward outstanding innovative and collaborative projects developed by members of the Europa Cinemas network, either at national or European level. Supported projects must generate a tangible impact on the film sector by fostering the circulation and visibility of European films, strengthening audience development - particularly among young audiences - and enhancing the skills, resilience, and competitiveness of cinemas. A key priority of the scheme is to encourage exhibitors to embed principles of inclusion and environmental sustainability within their practices. Europa Cinemas’ financial contribution can reach up to 120 000 € per project.

As the 6 projects selected in 2025 are coming to an end and the work and results achieved are being analysed to be shared with the whole network, nine exciting new projects representing 47 member cinemas have been selected in 2026 as part of the sixth edition of COLLABORATE TO INNOVATE for a total support amount of 946 799 €.

The selected projects focus on four main areas: cinema subscription schemes, audience development, technological innovation, and new cultural uses within cinemas.
