Umay, a battered twenty-five year old woman leaves her husband and takes her son back home hoping to find a better life with her family in Berlin, but their reception is not at all what she expected. She knows it takes a lot of her parents but she hopes that the bonds of affection will be stronger than all the social constraints. Her family is trapped in their conventions, torn between their love for her and the values of their community. Umay finds herself cornered, forced to flee again those that she loves both in order to avoid reprisals and violence of the male members of her family and in order to spare them dishonor.
