Follow live the Bologna Lab!
22-24 June 2025
To meet the strong interest in the Bologna Lab and ensure that all European exhibitors and professionals unable to attend in person can follow the sessions, the Lab will be live-streamed on YouTube.

The Bologna Innovation Lab will take place from Sunday 22 to Tuesday 24 June 2025. This year’s edition is entitled "Rethinking Cinema in Changing Times: From Local Engagement to Global Politics, Sustainability and AI" and will welcome 35 exhibitors from different countries across Europe.
Led once again by Madeleine Probst (Head of Film, Watershed, Britol, United Kingdom) and Mustafa El Mesaoudi (Managing Director, Cinema & Rex Filmtheater, Wuppertal, Germany), who will be joined this year by Miranda van Gelder (Head of Program & Education, Hoogt on Tour, Utrecht, Netherlands), the Bologna Lab will offer a valuable chance to exchange ideas and explore practical solutions to key challenges facing the film sector.
The live-streamed sessions will include a diverse range of topics such as: designing more accessible, inclusive and dynamic social spaces, dealing with politics; navigating whether and how to present (or not present) certain films/events, creating events that bring a return on investment, sharing practical approaches to the environmental crisis, curation and the (re)discovery of cinema’s past, amongst many others.
Themed sessions and practical workshops will provide participants with a space to share challenges, exchange innovative ideas, and explore potential programming and communication strategies.
