Europa Cinemas Label at Karlovy Vary (1-9 July 2016)
Four Network exhibitors from Germany, Latvia, France and Slovenia will take part in the Europa Cinemas Label Jury on the occasion of the upcoming Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Czech Republic. The Jury members will award one film among the 18 European films competing in both the Official and the East of the West selections.
Jörg Jacob - Union-Studio für Filmkunst - Kaiserslautern (Germany)
Jörg is representing more than 20 years of experience in cultural work, particularly in cinema- and film business. He considers cinema as the genuine place for film (feature, doc, short and children´s - film) and likes to adopt digital technologies when useful and appropriate. Hi aim is to involve young audience in cinema-space and develop it as a low threshold educational institution of arts and culture for all. He considers cinema as a sublime place where the equation “time is money” is transformed to something more, very different and really helpful, according to the slogan he invented for his company: “Cinema. Spend some time in our world” (in german: “Kino. Unsere Welt hat Zeit”).
Aiga Millere - Splendid Palace – Riga (Latvia)
Since 1994 cinema “Splendid Palace” has been a member of “Europa Cinemas” and since 2007 a member of international art-house cinema association “Art Cinema” CICAE. For the past five years, Aiga Millere has been the team member of professionals that on behalf of cinema “Splendid Palace” are selecting quality author cinema and art-house films for broader audience, working with film repertoire and different film events as well as providing cooperation with distributors and film professionals. Aiga Millere graduated Riga Stradins University with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and a Master’s Degree in Media and Communication studies. She enriched her knowledge and experience participating in various international and national film festivals, meetings and workshops about the cinema and films.
Theodora Olivi - Cinema Eldorado – Dijon (France)
After pursuing fine arts as well as academic studies in Lyon, Theodora decided to become a projectionnist and starting doing some replacement jobs in several cinemas all over France. She then became the director and programmer for Dijon’s arthouse venue, the cinema Eldorado. In this community-based cinema, she invites directors, actors, technicians and scholars who can share views with and engaged and passionate audience.
Samo Seničar - Mestni kino Metropol – Celje (Slovenia)
Programmer of Metropol since 2009, Celje's only city cinema. The cinema is a Europa Cinemas member since 2005. Besides programming mainly European, domestic and 3rd world countries films, Samo also regularly hosts film festivals (Mountain film festival, Festival of European and Mediterranean films). He is also the co-organizer and jury member of a Festival of student short films. Before coming to Metropol, Samo worked in an alternative youth club as an event organizer.
