Petit à Petit, released on 12 December in France, is a collection of four short animated films for children aged two and above: L’enfant sans bouche by Pierre-Luc Granjon (2004 / FR), Les Pierres d’Aston (2007 / SE), Les Abricots (1996 / SE), two films by Uzi and Lotta Geffenblad, and Lola s’est perdue by Gun Jacobson and Lotta Geffenblad (SE / 1991). The first three use the paper-cutout technique, whilst the fourth, Lola s’est perdue, was created using watercolours. Poetic, gentle and surprising, this programme is a lovely cinema experience for very young children.
One month after its release the programme has been seen by more than 17,000 viewers in France on 25 prints. Following this excellent start, it is now preparing for a long run, with a tour of French cinemas lasting around a year.
If you are interested in this programme, do not hesitate to get in touch with Les Films du Préau (Emmanuelle Chevalier and Marie Bourillon): les-films-du-preau@wanadoo.fr As the four short films contain a lot of dialogue, exporting the programme to non-French-speaking countries in its existing form would not be easy. On the other hand, exhibitors in French-speaking Switzerland and Belgium are invited to find out more from Les Films du Préau.
