16th European Film Weeks in Morocco

From 21 November to 8 December, 10 feature films among the best films from the 2006 European production will be presented to the Moroccan audience.


Europa Cinemas is this year again in charge of the artistic direction of the European Film Weeks organized by the EU Delegation in Rabat in partnership with Member States Embassies and Cultural Institutes in Morocco.

The public of 5 Moroccan cities, Tangiers, Rabat, Casablanca, Safi and Agadir, will have the opportunity to attend screenings of European films recently awarded or selected in great festivals such as Berlin, Cannes or Venice 2006: The wind that shakes the barley by Ken Loach, Palme d’or in Cannes, Volver by Pedro Almodovar, awarded for Best Screenplay and Best Actress in Cannes, The Golden Door by Emmanuele Crialese, who won Silver Lion in Venice, Grbavica by Jasmila Zbanic, Golden Bear of the last Berlinale, Lights in the Dusk by Aki Kaurismäki and The right of the Weakest by Lucas Belvaux, both selected in official competition in Cannes, Dans Paris by Christophe Honoré, selected in Cannes Directors’ fortnight, O fatalista by Joao Botelho, selected in last Venice festival, Something like Happiness by Bohdan Slama, awarded in Angers Premier Plans film festival and San Sebastian film festival in 2005, and Summer in Berlin by Andreas Dresen, awarded in San Sebastian 2005.

4 short films will be programmed before features: Le défunt, by Rachid El Ouali (Morocco), Une place au soleil de Rachid Boutounes (Morocco), Diaspora de Ula Tabary (Palestine) and La pelote de laine de Fatma Zohra Zamoun (Algeria).

The famous European producer Paulo Branco will come to Morocco on Monday 4 December to present Dans Paris on the occasion of its screening in Cinema Lynx, Casablanca.
