CONTROL GETS OFF TO A SUCCESSFUL START IN FRANCE

Control, winner of the Europa Cinemas Label at the 2007 Directors’ Fortnight, gets off to a successful start in France.


The British film Control, first feature film by the Dutch director and photographer Anton Corbijn which was awarded the Europa Cinemas Label at the 2007 Directors’ Fortnight by a jury of 4 network exhibitors, came out in French cinemas on 26 September.

Distributed in 71 theatres by La Fabrique de Films, the film has had audiences of 60 000 in its 12 first days, and should reach 100 000 admissions (according to the French professional publication Ecran Total).

The black and white film dealing with the life of singer Ian Curtis, head of the mythic Manchester group Joy Division, has already come out in Belgium and will soon be released in the UK, the Netherlands and Norway.
