Electric December 2009 Call for Entries

28 August - Now in its 11th year, Electric December is once again inviting young creative talent from across Europe to submit their short films for consideration.

This year, thanks to the European Commission for their support through the Youth In Action programme, young people from eShed, Bristol, UK and Skalvijos Kino Akademija, Vilnius, Lithuania are working collaboratively to set the agenda for Electric December 2009, produce a trailer for the contest and pick the 24 films and winners for 2009.

Call for Entries

Deadline: Monday 12 October 2009

Are you a young person (aged under 21) from Europe? Have you made a short film this year already or are you thinking of picking up a camera for the first time?
Submit your mini masterpieces to Electric December 2009 now and showcase your talents to the rest of Europe!

Free submission opens on 1st September - submit your film online or download a submission form from electricdecember.org.


What we are looking for:

• Short films under 5mins long.
• All production techniques welcome (animation, documentary, drama, experimental, etc…) except for advertisements.
• Made by young people (under 21 years old) from Europe.
• Completed after September ‘08.
• If the original language is not English, please ensure that the film include English subtitles (or supply an English transcript).
• Only contain material (images and sound) that you have permission to use.
• Only show people in the film who have agreed to be in it.
• Submitted online* or delivered in a high quality video file  (*note that if your film is selected, you will be asked to supply a high quality video file of your film eg: Quicktime DV PAL encoded video).


Why Enter?

Every year electricdecember.org receives thousands of hits from over 90 countries worldwide. Your film will receive a huge audience – not only online, but through the official Electric December DVD and through the UK’s BBC Big Screens. This will get your work out there and viewed by some of the most influential people in filmmaking. Last year’s winners received a travel bursary to attend BUFF Young People’s Film Festival in Malmo, Sweden and took part in workshops, met key people from the industry, screened their films in a cinema and generally had a fantastic film-filled weekend. We have some treats in store for the winners of Electric December 2009, so go on, submit your film now.
