Europa Cinemas organizes for the fifth year in a row a Young Audience Session during the 23rd edition of the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival. This seminar will welcome 20 participants – managers, exhibitors and programmers of cinemas – from Saturday 27 June to Wednesday 1st July, notably from Japan and Mexico.
The 9th edition of the Neuchâtel Fantastic Film Festival will take place from Tuesday June 30 to Sunday July 5. The festival will notably highlight the wind of freshness that has blown from Scandinavia on genre cinema in the last years. It takes place, among others, at the cinema Apollo, a member of the Europa Cinemas Network.
Following the initiative of the three main federations of film exhibition sector in Spain (FAPAE, FEDICINE, FECE), the first edition of the “Fiesta del Cine” will see the light this Sunday, June 21st .321 cinemas will be associated to this event and will will offer the public a passport giving access to all the screenings for 2 euros, until June 23rd.

Markéta Colin Hodouskova, responsible for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe at Europa Cinemas, met a host of Romanian professionals at the 8th edition of TIFF, the International Film Festival which took place from 29 May to 7 June at Cluj-Napoca, the principal city in Transilvania.
Europa Cinemas is proud to continue its partnership with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (July, 3-11-2009) and to award the Europa Cinemas Label to the best European Film in the official competition and in the East of the West section.
North and Machan received respectively the prize for Best Film (ex-aequo) and the Audience Award at the Transylvania International Film Festival, which took place at Cluj-Napoca from 29 May to 7 June.
Beyond the Awards Ceremonies, let us point out 3 European films which we feel are very likely to find their way into film theatres to a wide audience : The Girl, Eastern Plays and The Happiest Girl in the World.
The various prize winners at the Cannes Film Festival were revealed this weekend and to say European cinema has come out on top is an understatement! A quick recap here.
Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel’s La Pivellina, an Austrian/Italian co-production, has been awarded the Europa Cinemas Label as Best European Film in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival.
With a 58% market share held by European films (35% of this for non-national European films) and nearly 11% by non-EU/US films, film theatres of the Network allow the whole diversity of the cinema to be expressed.
