Within the framework of the EURIMAGES programme, Europa Cinemas supports cinema exhibition in the member States of the Council of Europe.

This support programme which has been running since 1993, aims at encouraging exchanges, improving the circulation of European films outside their country of origins and increasing their visibility on the screens. It also aims at promoting the programming of films co-produced by Eurimages in the cinema theatres

This action is complementary with the support programme towards cinemas operating within the MEDIA programme of the European Union. It facilitates the integration of the cinemas in these schemes when they join the European Union.

Therefore, only the cinemas located in the EURIMAGES member States, which do not have access to any MEDIA Programme´s support, are eligible for assistance.

At the end of 2011, Europa Cinemas/Eurimages Network includes 40 cinemas totalling 177 screens in 28 cities and 4 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro and Turkey.

In 2012, the number of countries which benefits from this support will increase from 4 to 7, since Russia, Georgia and Albania have joined Eurimages.

To apply, send an email to Menem Richa with the information mentioned in the 2012 Guide, upon receipt of this message, a log-in/password will be sent to you allowing you to enter, via the Europa Cinemas' Member Zone, all the necessary information concerning the theatre and the exhibition company. The complete application file must be received by 30 September at the latest. Your membership will become effective the following year.
