Peter Sehr passes away
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Peter Sehr, particularly since he was just 61 years of age. We pay our respects to a longstanding friend, a man committed to Europa Cinemas, a director, a teacher, a producer and an exhibitor.
A scientist by profession, Peter Sehr devoted himself entirely to the cinema from the early 1980s onwards, producing six feature films, notably Kaspar Hauser in 1993 and Ludwig II, released in Germany last December.
He was exhibitor at the Arri Kino film theatre in Munich, member of Europa Cinemas from 2004. He was involved in the dialogue between France and Germany through his participation in the creation of Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris in September 2001, managing the German side with Jan Schütte.
In 2002, along with Daniel Toscan du Plantier, Brigitte Sauzay and Margaret Menegoz, he set up Franco-German Film Encounters (Les rencontres Franco-Allemandes du cinema) which take place every autumn.
We shall miss his dynamism and enthusiasm with which he engaged in all his activities, both personally and collectively, as befitted his great culture and his profound European convictions. We pass on our condolences to his wife, Marie Noëlle, and to the Arri Kino team in Munich.
