Lionello Cerri new president of Anec

The Italian exhibitor and producer Lionello Cerri, a well-known figure in the Europa Cinemas network which he has been part of since its inception, is the new president of Anec (National Association of Italian Film Exhibitors). He replaces Paolo Protti for a mandate of three years (2011-2014).

Lionello started his adventure in film exhibition at the age of twenty-three, when together with his associates he founded the cinema Anteo. Today called Anteospaziocinema , this 4-screen complex celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2009 and is an emblematic location of Milanese cultural life, with a demanding and diversified programme (Europa Cinemas Award 2003) as well as a restaurant, bookstore and exhibition space.
Lionello is also an associate of the Apollospaziocinema and directs other film theatres in the Milanese region, including the Capitol in Monza, also a Europa Cinemas member.
Engaged in addition in cinema production with his company Lumière & Co., Lionello has notably produced works by Silvio Soldini, Giuseppe Piccioni, Jafar Panahi and the recent documentary film Niente Paura.
After having been president of FICE (Italian Federation of Arthouse Cinemas), Lionello, currently a member of Europa Cinemas' Board of Directors, declared he would undertake to "reinstate the film theatres at the heart of the cinema sector, and at the heart of Italian cultural and economic life".
We congratulate Lionello and wish him the best of luck in his new position.
