Éva Vezér has passed away

We have learned with deep sadness that Eva Vezér passed away on 28 March, after a long illness. She was 57 years old. Until recently we enjoyed Eva’s commitment as a Member of Europa Cinemas’ Board of Directors and Committee of Experts. For many years we have been enjoying her excellent knowledge of the European market and Hungarian cinema, which she relentlessly represented abroad.
Eva has been notably Magyar Filmunió’s CEO, in charge of the promotion of Hungarian cinema from 2001 to 2011, and supporting the development of young directors who have since then gained worldwide recognition, including György Pálfi, Benedek Fliegauf, Kornél Mundruczó, Ágnes Kocsis and Nimród Antal.
As a committed European, she also served as President of European Film Promotion, Director of the MEDIA Desk Hungary, Board Member of the European Audiovisual Observatory, Member of the European Film Academy and of the Lux Prize Selection Committee at the European Parliament, as well as Hungarian representative to the MEDIA Committee.
Prior to that, she’s been holding high positions at several Hungarian companies, notably Budapest Film, UIP-Duna Film, Alfa TV and Duna Television.
As a personality full of humour and warmth, Eva will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts go to her family, friends and colleagues.
