Europa Cinemas Label at Locarno (2-12 August 2017)
Four Network exhibitors from Great Britain, Spain, Czech Republic and Germany will take part in the Europa Cinemas Label Jury on the occasion of the upcoming Festival del film Locarno in Switzerland. The Jury members will award one film among the 14 European films competing in both Concorso Internazionale and Cineasti del presente selections.
Allison GARDNER - Glasgow Film Theater, Glasgow (UK)
Allison Gardner is Programme Director of Glasgow Film that comprises of Glasgow Film Theatre, a year-round screening programme of the classics of world cinema and contemporary art house films and Glasgow Film Festival that takes place in late February. Glasgow Film also hosts Glasgow Youth Film Festival and Glasgow Short Film Festival. Additionally Allison is a director of CineFile, a distribution company (UK and Ireland) that releases widely different titles ranging from classic thriller, costume drama, youthful escapism, family comedy, to documentary films.
Ramiro LEDO CORDEIRO - Cinema NUMAX, Santiago de Compostella (Spain)
Ramiro Ledo Cordeiro (Lugo, Spain, 1981) is the founder and CEO in NUMAX, S. Coop. Galega, a cultural workers cooperative in Santiago de Compostela. He is in charge of Cinema NUMAX and NUMAX Distribución. The movie theater gathers arthouse OV films combined with avant-garde screenings and new restored copies of classic films. NUMAX Distribución is a new independent film distribution company for the Spanish territory, trying to work really close with the filmmakers. Its lasts releases includes Oscar Ruiz Navia's Los Hongos, Rita Azevedo Gomes' A Vigança de uma Mulher and Correspondencias, Pedro Costa's Cavalo Dinheiro, Milagros Mumenthaler's La idea de un Lago or Oliver Laxe's Mimosas. As a filmmaker he's directed Vidaextra (2013) and O proceso de Artaud (2010).
Aleš STUCHLÝ - Film Europe Media Company, Prague (Czech Republic)
Film and music critic who graduated from Film Studies Department of Charles University in Prague. Aleš Stuchlý is one of the main contributors to the prestigious Cinepur film magazine. He has co-founded the fortnightly cultural magazine A2. Aleš had worked as an editor at Czech Radio - Radio Wave and since 2011, he has been the host of Čelisti, a film critique show on the same radio station. For the last two years he has been part of Film Europe Media Company. He is art director of Be2Can festival and co-founder of the alternative film festival Weird Europe - showcase of bizarre deranged art movies. He was a member of a short film competition jury at this year edition of the Academia Film Olomouc.
Matthias STÜTZ - Union Filmtheater, Berlin (Germany)
Matthias Stütz was born in East Germany in 1971. The wall breaks down in the year he was 18 years old. He finished his study of architectur in 1998 in the TU Berlin. Then Matthias was 5 years on the road, living in mobile homes, Summer in Europe, Winter in Africa. In 2003 he rented the cinema UNION of Berlin. In 2007 he got the chance to buy the house. From 2012 to 2014, he and his family (2 kids) made a journey in South America. In 2015 - 2016 he added 2 more screens to his cinema.

Friday 3 August – 11:30am - 6pm at Belvedere Hotel: StepIn
Organized in partnership with Europa Distribution, Europa International and Europa Cinemas and now in its fifth year, StepIn is an interdisciplinary and international think tank where distributors, exhibitors, producers, sales agents, funding agencies, marketing professionals, streaming platforms and film festival representatives take part in closed working sessions to discuss the state of the film industry. Friday’s workshops will lead to a public debriefing on Sunday open to all accredited professionals.
Saturday 5 August – 11am: Industry Academy
A fast-track industry training program for young professionals working in international sales, marketing, distribution, exhibition and programming. Allison Gardner, Programme Director at Glasgow Film Theatre and Member of the Europa Cinemas Label Jury, will share her professional experience with 10 young professionals of the industry.
